E. P. (Bill) Hamilton III, P.E. 

President 


Dr. E. P. (Bill) Hamilton III, P.E. is President of Hamilton&Associates, Inc., an Austin TX Architectural, Engineering and Technical Services firm that he started in 1982.  He obtained his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, and his Doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin.  He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, a member of IAEI, APSP, and a Senior Member of IEEE.  

 
 
Among his other duties and areas of specialization, Dr. Hamilton has worked for over 20 years in the design and analysis of aquatic electrical facilities, is a co-developer of bonding, grounding and stray current test procedures, protocols and related test equipment for pools and spas.  He has worked as an advisor to governmental entities in several states and private entities in three countries regarding electrical issues in aquatic facilities, as a consultant to pool/spa manufacturing companies, and has taught numerous seminars and courses on electrical installations in aquatic environments throughout the United States.  
 
 
Dr. Hamilton serves on the Technical Committee of APSP, and represents APSP as voting alternate on Code Making Panel CMP-17 of the National Electrical Code.  

Deborah R. Black

Vice President


Ms. Black is the Vice President of Hamilton&Associates.  Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

 

As a long-term employee of Hamilton&Associates, she has seen the firm evolve into a diverse, multi-disciplinary organization.  Her duties include firm management and marketing, including client relationships as well as most human resource functions.  In addition, she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, is an active member of The Seton Circle, Professional Women of Williamson County, past Board Member and active Committee Member for the Society of Marketing Professional Services and a member of the Pflugerville Rotary.  

 

Richard Friedrich

M.S.M.E, P.E.


Richard Friedrich is a registered professional engineer. He received a B.S. and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Friedrich also received a B.B.A. and a M.B.A. He has taught full semester college level courses in Statics and Dynamics. He has also taught classes in industrial and vehicular accident reconstruction. Mr. Friedrich has taught and provided numerous training presentations to local Fire Departments and the Central Texas Fire Investigators Association (C.T.F.I.A).

 

Mr. Friedrich is currently the vice-president of the C.T.F.I.A. He has authored several refereed papers in both Mechanical Engineering and Fire Investigation. He is currently the Engineering Director and Testing Lab Director at Hamilton and Associates. In that capacity he provides forensic analysis and general engineering analysis on a wide range of processes and products. Mr. Friedrich also mathematically models physical systems ranging from electrical contacts to hardware for power distribution systems. In the lab he writes data acquisition and control software for instrumented testing of electrical and mechanical products. Mr. Friedrich is routinely hired by manufacturers to assist them in general failure analysis that may or may not involve litigation. He has been doing these types of analysis for over thirty years.

Rogelio Ramirez

CFEI


Rogelio Ramirez has been involved in the electronic/electrical field for over 30 years (19 1/2 years at Hamilton & Associates). His education and training includes: AAS Electronics from TSTI-Waco, studied mechanical engineering at the University of Texas-Austin and has attended numerous fire investigation seminars. He has conducted presentations on 9 Volt Battery Study, Photography for Fire Investigations and Electrical Fire Investigation Tips to fire investigators and claims adjusters. Work experience includes engineering technician, origin and cause fire investigation, electronic technician, computer technician, electronic assembly QC inspector and ex-Doodlebugger (seismic exploration: land, offshore and overseas in Peoples Republic of China).

Donald J. Nichols

IAAI-CFI, NAFI-CFEI,

CVFI Fire Investigator


Mr. Nichols has 33 years experience in fire suppression and fire investigation, including 9 years as a Fire and Arson Investigator with the Austin Fire Department and several years as a Code Compliance Inspector for the Fire Marshal’s Offices of the Cities of Austin and Cedar Park, Texas. Mr. Nichols has performed more than 500 fire investigations, as well as numerous building inspections for Fire and Life Safety Code compliance. Mr. Nichols is commissioned as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Investigator and Master Inspector through the Commission on Fire Protection and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology.

Michael Effland

B.S.M.E., EIT


Michael Effland is a registered engineer in training. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Effland has given presentations to local fire departments and the Central Texas Arson Investigators Association. He assists in all laboratory operations for Hamilton and Associates and is proficient in construction mathematical and three dimensional computer models.

Scott Rogers

CFI, CFEI, CVFI, IFSAC


 

Mr. Rogers has over 32 years experience in fire and explosion origin and cause investigations and has been involved with over 2,500 incidents.  He holds numerous certifications with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Investigator, Master Fire Inspector and a Master Instructor. He has served the City of University Park Fire Department for 20 years.  His teaching experience includes TEEX/ Texas A&M in College Station, Vehicle Fire Investigation Certification classes to public and private sector individuals,  Fire Investigation Certification classes and National Fire Academy classes throughout the State of Texas.  Additionally, he has taught oil well blowout prevention classes for Petroleum College in Victoria, Texas and has served on the State of Texas Firefighter in the Line of Duty task force. 

Jamie Crawley AIA

LEED AP, Director of Architecture


David James Crawley (Jamie) is a naturalized Texan originally from Montreal, Quebec Canada. Jamie leads the architecture studio and brings significant experience in a variety of project sectors including civic, commercial, residential, non-profit, and industrial. Serving from 2005 to 2010 as Lead Designer for diverse public and private clients including, the South Texas cities of Edinburg, McAllen, Mission and Weslaco. His passion for design fosters both business development as well as connections to the community through probono service.

 

Jamie remains active in both the local and state components of the American Institute of Architects serving on a variety of committees and was honored in 2007 as the Texas Society of Architects Associate Member of the Year in part for his pro-bono efforts to a North East Austin Community through architectural advocacy. This effort was further recognized by Mayor Will Wynn and the Austin City Council by Mayoral Proclammmation for service to the community. Formerly a Visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture, he continues to participate and lecture at industry conferences on sustainable design, architecture, advocacy, social media and education.

Dan Campos

Project Manager, Designer


Dan Campos is originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and a graduate of Monterrey Tech, Queretaro Campus, School of Architecture (ITESM.) He is a registered Architect in Mexico and is currently pursuing his professional license in Texas as well as accreditation as a LEED Accredited Professional by the United States Green Building Council. Mr. Campos brings significant architecture experience in a wide-range of project sectors including civic, commercial, residential, non-profit, and industrial.

 

Since moving to Austin in 2008, he has served as Project Manager for diverse commercial clients including Biolife Plasma Services, Clinical Pathology Laboratories and Goddard School Daycare Systems. Formerly from Kansas, his architectural experience included public clients such as the Kansas Department of Corrections, Topeka Zoological Park, Kansas Department of Transportation and the Kikapoo Nation .
